Temptu has created an airbrush makeup system that is effortless for even casual airbrush enthusiasts to use. Temptu airbrush makeup is applied to the face in the form of various snap-on “pods,” which consist of foundation, blush, bronzer, highlighters, and other airbrush shades designed to make your complexion look flawless.
The design of the whole Temptu airbrush makeup kit is extremely sleek, with a small overall size and that makes it much more practical for the everyday woman to keep in her home and use every day. Even the air compressor is quite light, and the whole system is fairly quiet to use as well.
One of my favorite features on the Temptu system is that you have three levels of coverage you can choose from when applying the airbrush wand across your face, from light to medium to a heavy spray, that will still come out evenly and smoothly no matter which setting you choose.

Temptu airbrush makeup kits are sold through Sephora, and if you live near a major Sephora store, you may be able to go into the store for a free demonstration to see if the makeup looks good on your skin, as well as to get some tips from the makeup professionals there on how to apply it best. This is especially a good idea if you have darker skin, because Temptu’s range of airbrush makeup foundation for African skin especially is limited, and your closest match might be very far off from your natural skin color, indeed.
Airbrush makeup should last you all day with normal wear, but there is also airbrush retouch powder that you can apply to re-set your look without have to start all over again if you’ve been sweating or need to look flawless for more than 12 hours.
Bottom line?
If you’re willing to make the investment, and you are certain that the colors available through the Temptu system (no other airbrush makeup applicators will work with this kit) will match your skin tones, then Temptu is the best airbrush kit for consumers on the market today.
Airbrush makeup is most commonly used as a foundation, because it provides such a smooth base on your skin that you don’t even need to apply powder or anything else if you don’t want to. There is also blush and eye shadow airbrush makeup, but for beginners, I would advise you to start with airbrush makeup foundation and get good at airbrushing foundation on before you move on to anything else.
With practice, foundation airbrushing will only take 2-3 minutes in the mornings, and a good quality spray foundation will easily last you 12 hours before needing any touch-ups. Temptu airbrush makeup has different density settings, so you can start with a very light spray to avoid making any noticeable mistakes on your makeup.
Here are some application tips to get the smoothest results from using airbrush foundation makeup:
- Depending on the airbrush system you’re using, you might need to shake the liquid for 30-60 seconds before you apply the drops into the applicator. Otherwise the product may be applied unevenly.
- Just as if you were spray painting a wall or a piece of artwork, you want your airbrush wand to be constantly moving while the product is in use. Don’t rest on any one area of your face too long, even though you may have a blemish that you want to more fully conceal. Keep moving, and apply multiple, light layers to create flawless skin. If you let the foundation build up in one area, the results will look unnatural, and you’ll end up having to wash your whole face off and start again.
- Prep your skin first to absorb the airbrushed makeup as smoothly as possible. This involves definitely rubbing on some non-comedogenic facial lotion first, and some face primer if you have any, before you apply the foundation. It might take a little more time, but the results will look better and last longer.
- If you are running out of product, stop and re-fill, because if you get too low, the makeup may start splattering and creating bumps of the spray foundation on your face. It may take some practice and trial and error to learn how long the recommended drops will last you, and you may have to clean your face off and start again before you learn.
Just as when you were a teenager and learning how to apply makeup like an “adult,” you will have to re-learn how to use airbrushed makeup to look your best. Many people have good results by just setting aside a few hours to practice with the airbrush applicator so that they will have enough skill to apply it in the mornings before work, school, or just getting ready to go out. The results of airbrush makeup are far superior to traditional makeup, but it will take some practice to get the results you want.
Recommended Airbrush Makeup Foundation?
Of the two main airbrush companies, Temptu and Luminess, I almost always recommend Temptu, because it’s the same brand that professional makeup artists use. However, if you must have an airbrush makeup kit and can’t afford around $250 for Temptu, then the basic Luminess airbrush model is available for about $170. If it’s possible though, I’d suggest you save your money for a good Temptu system.
And if those prices are still a little high for you, I have found some good used airbrush makeup systems available on eBay for half of retail price and more.

Trendsetters everywhere have been running to get their hands on airbrush makeup. This form of makeup is a popular new trend but in reality it has been around for several years. Although it has been around for several years it was mostly only available to people of a certain prestige such as models, movie stars and those that could afford to pay for the makeup artist behind the airbrush.
Dinair is a leader in this market and they offer different kits that range from airbrush tanning to professional makeup design. These airbrush makeup kits will range in products some of which will have only the necessities to get you started and others that will contain everything the professional needs to have a busy day in this field. These kits will range in price from just over $100 to well over $1,600. This price does not include all the little extra pieces that you may want to purchase such as colors that do not come in the kit itself. Dinair has been producing this style of product for over twenty five years and they have several airbrushing products on the market.
These products range from compressors to cleaners and a large variety of makeup shades. They have 20 shades of foundation that are silicone and oil free. These shades can be mixed to match any one person’s individual skin tone. They also provide special effect colors for hair and face. These colors come in over 30 different shades for lips, cheeks, eyes and hair. They have opalescent shades that will add that special shimmer if you are looking for a night out on the town as well.
Many people choose this type of makeup because of the added benefits that come with this art. These benefits are different for most people and will vary from the fact that this makeup is touch free and sets in minutes to that it is one of the most sanitary ways to apply makeup.
People around the world use airbrushing makeup products for several reasons. One of these reasons is that it camouflages skin imperfections miraculously well. It will cover acne scars, tattoos, birthmarks, bruises and even recent facelifts if properly applied. This is for most the most popular reason so many people prefer airbrush makeup to the standard brush and pencil method.
