Airbrush Tanning FAQ and Tips
Have you been thinking about the possibility of airbrush tanning for yourself? Perhaps the natural tan from the warm summer months is all but gone, or maybe you just like to have a darker skin pigmentation all year round to help bring out your features.
Whatever your reason, you more than likely have a few questions you would like answered before you make your final decision. In this post we will share with you some of the most common questions others have to help you come to an informed decision that is right for you.
What exactly is airbrush tanning?
An airbrush tan is a spray on tan formula and procedure that allows you to get that beautiful “touched by the sun” look without having to spend hours out in the harmful rays of the sun. It is u-v free and causes no wrinkles or sun damage or risk of getting skin cancer. It leaves you with a natural tanned look that is better than most self-tanning lotions you can find on the market today.
How long does an airbrushed tan last?
If you do not shower or sweat during the first 4 to 6 hours after application, you can expect that your airbrushed tan will last for about a week depending on the location where you choose to get the application completed. You can also use self-tanning products to prolong the spray tan.
Will it streak my skin?
No, this process does not streak your skin. The solution used in airbrush tanning is geared to create a streak-free, all natural look that is also water resistant and will only diminish as your skin cells die and flake off with time.
Is there anything I need to do to prepare for the process?
In order to get the best results from the process, it is best that you completely exfoliate all of the dead skin from your body and face beforehand. Also be sure that you do not moisturize your skin before the treatment. There will be vitamins and supplements such as Aloe and Viatmin E in the airbrush tanning solution that will help to moisturize your skin once completed.
You will also need to make sure that you wear loose, dark clothing on the day that you undergo your procedure to avoid having the solution rub off before it has completely done its job. If you do have a thong, this is recommended over an expensive bikini or bathing suit. This will help keep the tan lines down to a minimum.
How long does the procedure last?
The normal procedure for getting your airbrushed tan is approximately 30 minutes although you will need to make sure that you do not exercise, shower or bathe for 6-8 hours after the application has been completed in order to get the full effects and not risk having any of the solution wear off before it has been set into your skin.
How many applications will I need?
For most people, one application is dark enough. If you would like a darker tan, you can repeat the treatment the next day for there is only so much of the solution that will stick to your skin within each session.
If you have any other questions or concerns that have not been answered here, you should talk to the professional or center where you will be getting your airbrush tanning completed.
